LEADERSHIP LETTER: Katie Gustafson, Middle School Principal

Dear Dragon Families,

As we begin to wrap up the 2018-2019 school year, this is a great time to reflect on all of our school's wonderful events, interactions, and accomplishments. For our students, this is a very exciting time, with field trips, field days, continuation ceremonies, and 8th grade graduation. We are so thrilled that you have chosen Flagstaff Academy to educate your child!

Looking ahead to the next school year, I want to share with you some of the work our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team has tackled this spring. As I mentioned in a Dragon Weekly article from April, our goals have focused on reviewing the non-academic aspects of our school, including character education, restorative practices, CHAMPS, Dragon Links, and more. These components, along with an updated Restorative Discipline Plan, will be shared with you beginning in August. We are thrilled to continue our work to support students with Dragon PRIDE, based on the Core Virtues:

P - Perseverance
R - Respect
I - Integrity
D - Dedication
E - Empathy

We are excited for the improvements that our PBIS team will be working on throughout the summer. Many thanks to our PBIS team: Katie Gustafson, Wayne Granger, Gael Lester, Abby Bok, Patty Quinn, Jantrey Meyer, Aubrie Tarantino, Jeri Tagawa, Elizabeth Jarvis, Lauren Gourley, Sheila Strukel, Linda Krichel, Alison Adams, Katie Cook, Katie Naramore, Laura Loomis, Leha Moskoff, Brandie Nielson, Jenny Mills, Joy Vigil, Kristie Rollman, Kris Gudmundson, Kate Salgado, Kevin Pugh, and board member, Cary Lynch. Look for more information on PBIS coming in the fall!

Thank you for your continued support of Flagstaff Academy. I look forward to seeing you on Monday, May 20th at 6:00 p.m. for the End of Year Picnic, Talent Show, and BOGO Book Fair!

Take care,

Katie Gustafson
Principal, Middle School
