CoreVirtues  Letter from Sharon Aguina, Executive Principal

Dear Dragon Families,

Our PTO and parent community is one of the components that make Flagstaff Academy a  fantastic place to be. The year started with PTO hosting a get-together in the local parks to  provide hospitality and allow new families to meet our PTO members, our administration, and  each other. PTO parents and other volunteers are in our school each and every day offering an  extra pair of hands to classrooms, providing support for in-school events, and organizing our  fabulous PTO events.

It seems that almost every week the PTO or parents are hosting some special event to benefit our school. In September, the Fall  Festival was relocated indoors at a moment's notice due to inclement weather and students  reported it was the best Fall Festival they ever attended. The Farm-to-Table dinner at Ollin Farms was a delicious banquet accompanied by music played by our own teachers underneath a countryside canopy.  Jog-a-thon planning began in August and each and every day there has been some  motivational activity for students, including an assembly so professional it could have been  broadcasted. The event itself was unbelievable and looked like an official sports event!

Parents attend our committees, our events, come to the Principal's Coffee each month, and are  present at our PTO meetings. Our PTO president smiles while he is constantly involving more  parents to get more involved.

Our parents represent such a positive presence for our school community. You ask good questions and  have excellent ideas. Our parent community is one of Flagstaff Academy's most important resources and  aside from the outstanding academics and outstanding teachers, one of the most important  reasons to be at Flagstaff Academy!

Enjoy the weekend!

Sharon Aguina ,
Executive Principal

Late Pick Up Fees

Flagstaff Academy students must be picked up before the school closes at the end of each school day. School closes 30 minutes after classes end. On regular school days, classes end at 3:30 p.m. and the school closes at 4:00 p.m. On early release days, school closes 30 minutes after classes end.

After 30 minutes, parents will be charged a fee of $5.00 at the 5th minute after the school closes, and $1.00 for each minute thereafter for late arrivals. Fees will be applied to the student's Infinite Campus account. This is effective immediately.

The Dragon Flight after school child care program is available for students who cannot be picked up during regularly scheduled school hours. The Dragon Flight program and registration information is available on the Flagstaff Academy website. Please contact the Dragon Flight Director, Jeanna Peppler at  jpeppler@flagstaffacademy.org for questions regarding the program. For families needing financial assistance, Dragon Flight participates in the Colorado Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP). Families must complete the online registration process prior to students attending drop-in care.

In the event of an emergency, please contact the school as soon as possible at 303-651-7900, so arrangements can be made for your student(s).

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
New Lost and Found Process is Underway!

Remember:
        • Any item labeled with a legible first and last name will be returned to the student if not picked up by the student within a week.
        • Lost and found volunteers will take a picture of any items without a legible first and last name and post them on the Dragon Lost and Found Google Drive: https://photos.app.goo.gl/6kHSlBUvwGjxbU8Z2
        • Any unlabeled item will be donated to the OUR Center after 7 days.
        • A donation master schedule is available to view at any time through the following link: http://bit.ly/2yiWjuT
        • Date Found refers to the date an item was placed in the lost and found, not necessarily the day it was lost.
        • Any item without a legible first and last name placed in lost and found that is leaking, very stinky, or very soiled will be thrown away immediately. This decision will be made by the lost and found volunteer. An effort to empty food containers, water bottles etc. will be made to keep items from being thrown away unnecessarily.

Thank you for Making Jog-a-thon a HUGE Success!

The PTO is pleased to announce we've raised over $51,000  to date for Flagstaff Academy with your Dragon Dash Jog-a-thon donations! Thank you, Flagstaff Academy families for helping us exceed our goal! Your outpouring of donations during the Jog-a-thon is a clear illustration of your belief in our students and the exceptional curriculum we have at Flagstaff Academy.

Mad Science Assemblies will be presented to Pre-K-8th grade students in the next few weeks! Thank you for surpassing our $1,000 goal with Cents for Science!

As a result of this amazing fundraising effort, on Wednesday, October 18th, the PTO approved funding for the Colorado Mountain Club program. This will provide outdoor science education that enriches our Core Knowledge science program for all K-8 students. The PTO also approved additional funds for the Library Media Center (LMC) to make three separate library book & e-book buys this school year. Also, watch for new items coming soon in our Science Labs & classrooms funded by your generosity.

There is no deadline for Corporate Matching, so submit your paperwork to your HR department before the end of 2017. Tax Receipts are available here for your records. Prizes will be delivered to classes before Winter Break.

We are grateful for our Volunteers! Our team consisted of over 65 parents, plus teachers and staff who encouraged students the whole way. We appreciate all the time and devotion you put into this school-wide fitness and fundraising event!
