IntheNews  HELLO FROM PRINCIPAL LOWE

Dear Parents,

One of the pleasures I have in my job is getting to see the exciting things that are going on in our classrooms. I walk through classrooms informally and also complete formal observations of our staff. I can't tell you enough what an incredible staff we have!

In math, I see manipulatives being used, along with critical thinking and group work. In language arts, I see students working through the writing process - from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and reading for pleasure (what a concept!!). Watching the expectations unfold from grade level to grade level and watching the students progress is truly amazing.

So, be sure to give a shout out to your child/children's teacher(s). I promise you that they are all working tirelessly to give their very best to the children in their classes.

Have a wonderful four day weekend! Enjoy your time with your family and find time for yourself as well.

Robin Lowe ,
Executive Principal

Health Clerk Office
It's  Still Cold and Flu Season!

With the winter weather being as fickle as it has been, it's hard to remember that we are in the middle of cold and flu season. Please take care of yourselves and your students by drinking plenty of fluids, getting lots of rest, and washing your hands. If you wonder whether your student is well enough to attend class, visit the When to Keep Your Child at Home page on the Flagstaff Academy website. Stay warm and healthy this season!

State Mumps Alert
Upon advice of our Nurse Consultant with Children's Hospital, we are providing this notice. Please note that there are not any cases of mumps at Flagstaff Academy; this is merely a notice to make parents/guardians aware of the outbreak in our state.

The state of Colorado is experiencing an outbreak of mumps. There is a letter from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment available on the Health Clerk page of the Flagstaff Academy website under the heading State and Local Health Information

If you have any questions or concerns, please Renee Moen, Health Clerk at (303) 651-0900 ext 211 or rmoen@flagstaffacademy.org.
