The residents of Panama City Beach and Bay County, Florida have been working hard to recover from Hurricane Michael so they can return to a sense of normalcy - and they need our help!
Bay District Schools are planning to reopen some schools and programs by November 5th and all schools by November 13th. Because many residents lost everything in the hurricane, they are in desperate need of school supplies like backpacks, pencils, pens, notebooks, t-shirts, etc.
They have a daunting task of rebuilding 1,800 classrooms and providing much-needed clothing and supplies for their students. Pre-Hurricane Michael they had around 28,000 students. They anticipate at least HALF (14,000) will need support!
Because we "fall back" this weekend and some schools are now sharing campuses, there are students that won't be dismissed from school until 6pm. Because many students will be walking home in the dark in areas where street lights are down and debris blocks visibility, they are also in need of flashlights, reflective vests, glow-in-the-dark clothes - anything that will make the students visible.
Here's how you can help:
- Ship your samples, overruns, closeouts and donations of flashlights, backpacks, school supplies, t-shirts, etc. to Deniece Moss, Principal, West Bay Elementary, 14813 School Drive, Panama City Beach, FL 32413. If possible, please include a sticker or label on your package that says "Promo Cares."
- You can also make a donation through their Amazon Wish List. This list also gives you an idea of the items they are in need of.
