Dear Member,

You have an important decision to make in the month of May in regards to your upcoming allocations. Volunteers will also be available in the month of May to help you navigate making your selections.

The Flex-Choice Allocation program is available to allow each member to determine how much of your hourly contribution is directed either to your Dollar Bank, funding your health care fund, or the Defined Contribution (DC) Pension plan. If no action is taken, this year’s total allocation towards Flex-Choice will be directed to health and your DC contribution will be frozen at the 2020 allocation, unless an election was made by you last year in the open enrollment period. If you made an election last year it will remain in effect until you make another election. The local and Wilson McShane want to make sure you understand your options and have any assistance you need in making this selection.

It is important that you as a member decide based on your own wishes and circumstances, what allocation works best for you and your family. There are several resources to help you with this:

  1. Wilson-McShane is in the process of sending out the Flex-Choice guide to each member’s home. Please watch for this in the mail and review the information.
  2. A modeling tool is available at www.carpentersandjoinersbenefits.com to assist you with your allocation decision by projecting the effect on both funds based on the information you input.
  3. Watch the Flex-Choice Allocation program video on www.carpentersandjoinersbenefits.com and be more informed on Flex-Choice in less than 5 minutes!
  4. Volunteers are available by appointment (20 minutes) every Wednesday from 3-6pm in the month of May. Please sign up for an appointment and review Flex-Choice information prior to coming. To make sure you can make your selections, please register or login on www.carpentersandjoinersbenefits.com prior to your appointment. If you do not have a device or need assistance with registering, volunteers will be available to help with this step and will have laptops available for use.

Other important things to know:

  1. If you made an election last year on the website and you do not wish to make any changes, you do not need to take any action.
  2. The open enrollment period for 2022 is May 1-31. The allocation will take effect July 1, per the Flex guidelines, and will continue until a future open enrollment period.
  3. You will have the ability to make a new election each year during the open enrollment period if you choose to or as your circumstances change.
  4. The open enrollment period is open during the month of May each year and currently is the only availability to make your election.

Note: If there is any conflict between the above statements and the Plan Document, the Plan Document shall govern.
