Most Common Workplace injury Causes
Safety on the job is a top concern for both employers and employees, and is everyone's responsibility. Below are the 10 most common causes of workplace injuries according to the National Safety Council.

10. On the Job Violent Acts
9. Repetitive Motion Injuries
8. Machine Entanglement
7. Vehicle Crashes
6. Walking Into Injuries
5. Falling Object Injuries
4. Reaction Injuries
3. Falling From Heights
2. Slipping/Tripping

The number ONE most common cause of workplace injuries is overexertion. Pulling, lifting, pushing, holding, carrying, and throwing activities at work account for approximately $13.6 billion in beneĀfit costs annually.

Making sure that employees are using proper lifting techniques, and that they know and respect their own physical limitations can help reduce injuries caused by overexertion.
Temptation Trivia
This 1999 "found-footage" supernatural horror film about 3 student filmmakers shooting a documentary about an urban legend in the Maryland woods went on to gross more than $250 MILLION worldwide. An astounding feat, especially when you consider that the film cost only $60,000 to produce.

Facebook Named in ACLU Suit
The American Civil Liberties Union lodged a legal complaint against Facebook, accusing the company of enabling discriminatory job postings with its ad-targeting tools. The complaint also names 10 employers that used Facebook to post job ads targeting men for roles as police officers, truck drivers, and sales representatives at a sports store.

Federal laws prohibit employers from excluding people from advertising on the basis of what are known as "protected categories," which include gender, race, national origin, religion, age, military status, disability and sexual orientation.

The practice of targeting online ads by demographics has become standard for nearly every Internet company that serves ads. But Facebook - the only tech company named in the suit - is more vulnerable to these accusations because its microtargeting capabilities go beyond those of its rivals, and because the social network gives people the option to learn why they are seeing a particular ad. That "Why am I seeing this?" feature enabled the ACLU lawyers to bring the suit.

The job ads from the 10 employers named in the complaint popped up in the news feeds of men but not women, the ACLU said. When the men clicked on Facebook's "Why am I seeing this?" feature, they could see that the ads were targeted to them in part because of their gender.

5 Tips for a Better Work-Life balance

Build downtime into your schedule - When you plan your week, make a point to schedule time with your family and friends, or for doing activities that help you recharge.

Drop activities that sap your time or energy - Many people waste their time on activities or people that add no value - for example, spending too much time at work with a colleague who is constantly venting or gossiping.

Rethink your errands - Consider whether you can outsource household chores or errands. Could you order your groceries online and have them delivered, or hire a kid down the street to mow your lawn?

Get moving - It's hard to make time for exercise when you have a jam-packed schedule, but experts say that it may ultimately help you get more done by boosting your energy level and ability to concentrate. Research shows that exercise can help you be more alert.

Relax - Remember that a little relaxation goes a long way. Don't get overwhelmed by assuming that you need to make big changes to bring more balance to your life. Maybe you can start by spending an hour a week on your hobby, or planning a weekend getaway once a year.

Recipe
Beef and Beer Belgian Stew

Ingredients
2 lbs cubed stew beef
2 T butter
2 T olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 pound mushrooms, roughly chopped (optional)
4 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed

1 (12 oz) bottle of dark Belgian Beer
1 bouquet garni*
2 T vinegar (pref. wine vinegar)
2 T brown sugar
Salt and pepper to taste

*Bouquet garni is a bundle of herbs (typically thyme, bay leaves, and parsley) tied together with a string or placed inside a small sachet. It is cooked with the other ingredients but is removed before the food is served.

Directions
Liberally season the beef cubes with salt and pepper. You can also roll them in flour to make a thicker stew. Heat a deep pan like a Dutch oven. Melt the butter and oil using medium-high heat. Brown the cubed beef on all sides to seal in the flavor. Remove beef from pan and set aside. Saute the onions in the pan until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for another minute or two. Return the beef to the pan and mix well with the onions and garlic. Pour in the beer. Add the bouquet garni, vinegar, brown sugar, and mushrooms (if using). Stir together. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until the beef is fork tender. Adjust the seasoning if necessary. Remove the bouquet garni.  To speed up coking time you can use the "stew" setting on your electric pressure cooker (approximately 35 minutes on high pressure).
