"Flexibility is the New Currency for Companies"
A few weeks ago Karen Jordan,SVP Pepsico, and I had a conversation about what companies would need to do post pandemic to attract & keep women.
Women are leaving, they are leaving all companies in droves! They are leaving YOUR company and every other company
that refuses to consider
expanding policies women need to continue working for you.
They are leaving with no jobs to go to and they are leaving for lesser salaries & titles to go to
companies that are flexible.
Some companies are demanding all employees return to offices by a certain date even if child care is still not available!
One company I know that has done that, are now experiencing massive turnover for women AND men. People 5 years out from retirement are retiring.
Do you really want to demand a return if it means losing 30-40% of your workforce at ALL levels? Trust me they will find work elsewhere within a few weeks. It is an Employees Market not an Employers Market!
Flexibility means having policies available to meet the needs of a varied group of employees. Flexibility means getting involved in issues you never had to deal with before like Child Care, Job Sharing and Hybrids of working from home and office as well as the Mental Health of your employees post Covid.
9 to 5 was a great movie. It was entertaining AND had a deep message. If you want to know what I mean by Flexible watch that movie again. Inventory what they do while the boss is away.
That's what YOU will need to get your company to do to "maybe" keep your best employees.
