Celebrating 30 Years of Partnership with Cape Air

As Angel Flight NE celebrates 30 years of ensuring that distance is never a barrier to life-saving medical care, we're proud to recognize one of our most enduring partners, Cape Air.

Since Angel Flight NE's very first year in 1996, Cape Air has believed in our mission, partnered and supported us by helping patients throughout the Northeast access the specialized medical care they need. For three decades, their generosity and commitment have been an essential part of our mission, and we are incredibly grateful for their unwavering support.

Recently, Cape Air unveiled a stunning new commemorative aircraft in partnership with America250 to celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary. The custom-painted Cessna 402C features a patriotic "We the People" design and will fly throughout Cape Air's route network, honoring our country's history while connecting communities across the Northeast.

We couldn't imagine a more fitting passenger for one of this aircraft's early Angel Flight NE missions than LeslieAnne.

LeslieAnne, a military veteran from Bar Harbor, Maine, recently took her very first Angel Flight NE mission aboard this beautiful aircraft as she traveled to Boston for treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Through our Angels for Armed Forces® Program, Angel Flight NE provides free flights to military personnel, veterans and their families who need access to medical care or other support services. LeslieAnne's journey beautifully reflects the spirit of service, resilience, and partnership that both Cape Air and Angel Flight NE have shared for the past 30 years.

Congratulations to our friends at Cape Air on the unveiling of this remarkable aircraft. We are honored that one of our patients had the opportunity to experience her very first Angel Flight NE mission aboard this special plane, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to ensure our nation's veterans and patients can access the care they need.

Thank you, Cape Air, for your generous partnership with Angel Flight NE since the very beginning. For 30 years, your partnership has helped ensure that distance is never a barrier to care, bringing hope to thousands of patients and families across the Northeast.

Here's to celebrating our shared history, and to many more years of changing lives together.

Above and Beyond: The Heart of a Volunteer Pilot

Every Angel Flight NE mission is about more than getting a patient from Point A to point B. It's about the connections that are made along the way.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming longtime volunteer pilot Kley to our home base at Lawrence Municipal Airport as he arrived to transport repeat patient Jessica from Lowell, Massachusetts, to Pennsylvania for specialized treatment.

Jessica is an aviation enthusiast with dreams of earning her pilot's license one day, so it seemed only fitting that she surprise Kley with a special thank-you gift, a beautifully 3D-printed model of his Navion aircraft. Kley joked that Jessica's version was "much better looking" than his real airplane, but it was clear he appreciated the thoughtful gesture.

Because the mission departed from Lawrence, Kley also had the opportunity to meet our mission coordination and office team in person for the very first time.

"It was great to meet AFNE staff member Jonathan and the Angel Flight NE team who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support both patients and volunteer pilots," Kley shared.

Volunteer pilots like Kley generously donate not only their aircraft, fuel, and time, but also their compassion. Whether transporting a child to a life-saving appointment or helping a repeat patient continue treatment, they remind us that every mission carries hope.

To Kley, and to all of our incredible volunteer pilots, thank you for making a difference, one flight, one patient, and one act of kindness at a time.

Pictured is the 3D-printed model of Kley's beloved Navion aircraft, handcrafted by Jessica as a heartfelt thank-you for her Angel Flight NE mission.

Thank you to The Nantucket Fund at the Community Foundation for Nantucket

We are incredibly honored to have been selected as a recipient of a grant from CFN.

It was a privilege to join so many inspiring organizations as we celebrated the incredible impact being made throughout the Nantucket community. The evening was beautifully done, and it was a wonderful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to care for one another.

Thank you to the Nantucket Community Foundation and everyone whose generosity makes these grants possible. Your support helps Angel Flight NE ensure that Nantucket residents can access specialized medical care when they need it most. Living on an island can make traveling for treatment especially challenging, and we're proud to be there with free flights and transportation so distance is never a barrier to care.

We are truly grateful for your partnership and look forward to helping many more Nantucket patients receive the lifesaving and life-sustaining medical care they deserve. Thank you for believing in our mission!
