Flight Restrictions 12/19/2025 Update

Hi Neighbors!

We're writing to give you the latest on the year-round flight restrictions at Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA) implemented by the FAA on October 20th, following an order from the U.S. Secret Service. This is the 4th newsletter update. You can find previous ones here, here and here.

A few quick updates before we sign off for the holidays.

Last Friday the County filed its Petition for Review in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Columbia District (DC). You can view the Petition here, and the accompanying letter to the FAA here. The City of West Palm Beach joined the Town of Palm Beach and they filed their own Petition, which you can view here.

Yesterday, Thursday, December 18, Congresswoman Lois Frankel had a meeting with the U.S. Secret Service (USSS). Because the meeting was classified, there isn’t much Frankel’s office can share right now. They’re working with the USSS to determine what info they can share publicly.

We have heard from some of you that not only are you experiencing an increase in aircraft noise and soot, but also vibrations that some claim have caused damage to property. We’ve asked Airport Director Laura Beebe for a response to these claims, here’s what she wrote:

The County is aware of an increase in aircraft noise as a result of changes to the arrival and departure routes at PBI, which were implemented by the FAA at the request of the U.S. Secret Service. The County has initiated litigation against the FAA as a result of these changes. If you believe that you have suffered damage to your property as a result of these changes, we encourage you to contact the FAA to make them aware of the impacts of the recent FAA-implemented changes to the arrival and departure routes at PBI.  Contact information may be found below.
