In late May, the client's original general contractor (GC) failed to show up and never started the project which left them in a bad situation as they had renters promised for the winter season. Since the clients did not remember we also have a GC license, they asked their community security folks if they knew someone who could help.
The security guys recommended us (yes, I pay them -- NOT.... Just Kidding!) and when the client called to ask if we knew a GC of course I said 'Yes! Us!'
The client was thrilled! So we agreed to remodel their home and honestly, it turned out so beautifully. This client really has an eye for putting things together!
We literally replaced all the flooring, the shower tile, toilets, appliances, backsplash, front door, countertops, door knobs and hinges and a host of other things. It was all cosmetic and the client provided nearly all the materials except the cabinetry and the door trim (which we provided). They even pre-picked all the paint colors!
This made the project super easy because all the hard decisions were made. That's not to say we didn't encounter some pop up surprises. Like the fact the outlet for the range hood ended up being 10" away from where it was needed and that was after the backsplash was installed and only a few days before the client was scheduled to see the finished project -- yikes!
It was a fairly easy fix though and all throughout the project we kept the client informed as to the progress, sent pictures every few days and made sure they were involved in every decision.
This homeowner has a construction background and teases us all the time saying his friends cannot believe he is out playing golf instead of being here managing this remodel but he said he has such faith in us -- he didn't need to be here!
In fact, he only came down once during the entire four month endeavor. Here are some of the things of which we are most proud:
--We finished on time -- we said we would be done by October 1st and we were
--We stayed on budget. The only changes were scope changes requested by the client

| Backsplash - Before |

--The kitchen backsplash is a work of art -- not only because of the installation quality or the type of tile the client picked, but because there are no upper cabinets which is very unusual in a kitchen.
--The new deep lower cabinets turned out perfectly and the client loves them. They replaced the uppers and open up the room so much. It's amazing how much space there is in a kitchen when you don't have upper cabinets.

Floor - Before |
--The floor is straight as an arrow (no easy feat because the concrete under the old floor tile was crazy bad -- uneven and cracked. Plus a previous patio conversion meant the transition from one room to another had slightly different elevations!)

--We were unsure about the rain glass for the shower -- most of our homeowners have clear but the rain glass is beautiful and gives the showers both privacy and an upscale look

The pictures in this newsletter are all actual photos from this project. Most clients have a vision and we want to help them realize that vision. We take an immense amount of pride in the quality of everything we do and will always go above and beyond to make sure everything is 'just right'.
It didn't hurt, either, that this couple are about the nicest people on the planet. When we had questions, they answered right away. When there were scope decisions, they made them quickly. And all the time, they were pleasant and very appreciative of everything.

In fact, they both hugged me repeatedly when we met to do the final walk through. How great is that?
