I was speaking with multiple colleagues from different states earlier today via Zoom. Our discussion was about community pharmacy practice transformation, but as we discussed the challenges of practice transformation, we started talking about the payer programs that were popping up in several states due to the “value” that payers were beginning to understand about community pharmacists. Flip the Pharmacy Year 2 Awards
Nominations Now Being Accepted
 
We are excited to announce that the Flip the Pharmacy Program Year 2 Awards are now open! These awards are intended to recognize exemplary performance during Year 2 of FtP, which includes Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 participants. Award categories include:
 
1.  Pharmacy of the Year Award is given to a participating pharmacy from each cohort that exhibits an exemplary commitment to transforming their practice model and supporting the overall purpose of Flip the Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy of the Year candidates must be nominated by FtP Coaches and Team Leads
2.  Team of the Year Award is given to a funded team from each cohort that exhibits an exemplary commitment to supporting its participating pharmacies and supporting the overall purpose of Flip the Pharmacy
  • Team of the Year candidates must be nominated by participating FtP pharmacies
3. Technology Solutions Partner of the Year Award is given to a technology provider that exhibits an exemplary commitment to providing necessary technology resources to support pharmacy practice transformation and the overall purpose of Flip the Pharmacy
  • Technology Solutions Partner of the Year must be nominated by participating pharmacies and FtP team members (Coaches and Team Leads)
 
Flip the Pharmacy participants may nominate participating pharmacies, teams or technology solutions partners through this nomination form.
 
Deadline is Friday, August 27, 2021
University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy Commits to Community Pharmacy
Practice Transformation

With the heightened need for medical care and prescription drugs, the demand for immunization services at an all-time-high, and a noticeable scarcity of primary care physicians, the community pharmacists of rural Kentucky have emerged as the most accessible health care providers in a period defined by COVID-19. 
 
While the critical role of the pharmacist might have been spotlighted this year, it didn’t take a global pandemic for University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy leaders to start believing in the future of community pharmacy.

Change Packages & Best Practices

The Flip the Pharmacy Coordinating Center has created multiple, monthly change packages.
If you are participating in Flip the Pharmacy Cohort 1 or Cohort 2, then this is your Month 5 Change Package on Diabetes and Social Determinants of Health.

With this month's Change Package, we are going to focus on these workflow innovations:
  • Make clinical interventions concerning medication-related problems and communicate your recommendations with prescribers.
  • Make a plan at your pharmacy for addressing and documenting Social Determinants of Health.
  • Build a community resource guide for your team to be able to refer patients to local resources.
