HAGERSTOWN, MD (June 3, 2018) – The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning along the Potomac River for the affected areas of Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, Williamsport and Hancock. Forecast Flooding changed from Minor to Moderate Severity in most affected areas.

Potomac River at Harpers Ferry
  • Flood Warning in effect until late Tuesday night.
  • At 3:00 p.m. Sunday the stage was 11.0 feet and rising.
  • Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
  • Forecasted to rise above flood stage by overnight tonight and crest near 22.1 feet by late tomorrow evening. The river will fall below flood stage by early Tuesday evening.

Potomac River at Shepherdstown
  • Flood Warning in effect until Wednesday morning.
  • At 2:00 p.m. Sunday the stage was 9.5 feet and rising.
  • Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
  • Forecasted to rise above flood stage by late this evening and crest near 23.8 feet by early tomorrow evening. The river will fall below flood stage by early Wednesday morning.

Potomac River at Williamsport
  • Flood Warning in effect until further notice.
  • At 2:00 p.m. Sunday the stage was 9.9 feet and rising.
  • Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
  • Moderate flooding is forecast for tomorrow afternoon.

Potomac River at Hancock
  • Flood Warning in effect from Monday morning until Monday evening.
  • At 3:00 p.m. Sunday the stage was 21.8 feet and rising.
  • Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
  • Minor flooding is forecast.
  • Forecasted to rise above flood stage by tomorrow morning and crest near 30.5 feet by mid-afternoon tomorrow. The river will fall below flood stage by mid-afternoon tomorrow.
