WE ARE OFF TO A GREAT START!

Dear Arts Advocates;

My apologies for waiting so late to send this. I wanted it to be perfectly accurate, but the day is almost over. Below are the recommendations for funding the Department of State Division of Arts and Culture Grants released Tuesday. I am still working on getting some clarity on the Senate's recommendation for Cultural Facilities, but really don't want to wait any longer to share the news.

Congratulations on being such effective advocates and have a great weekend.

More to come,

Jennifer Jones

President/CEO

Florida Cultural Alliance

Regarding Cultural Facilities: We're still interpreting the numbers as there are a few local funding initiatives listed that cause us to think that some of this appropriation applies to them, but the last $111 of their recommendation seems to imply that the ranked list is being considered around application #13. We will ABSOLUTELY let you now when we have clarity.

SO MANY SMILES!

To the right, you'll see just a few of the happy faces from our days in Tallahassee. Brand new and sure to be lasting friendships were made. It is impossible to tell the all the week's stories, we'd like you to try.

Here's one mine: I met Ben Fox, a film-maker based in Tallahassee. On Wednesday afternoon, he took us on a walking tour of the Railroad Square arts district. Ben is presenting a film festival in two weeks at Mickee Faust Clubhouse called Blind Can: White Canes*, Camera, Action. You can see him in the photo to the right with everyone's new best friend and designer of entomologically adorned attire, Stephen Shooster!

Please follow this link to see these and more candid shots captured by our photographer Bob O'Lary. They're already formatted for social media. If you post them, please credit Mr. O'Lary and tag your colleagues, legislators and us.

We'd love to see the photos you captured as well - please upload to this shared folder.

Thank you:
