   President's Message!
Greetings Volunteer Coordinators and Business Partners Coordinators ,
It is 2020, and the vision is looking good. Since our board has many new members, I thought it would be nice to include photos of everyone in this newsletter so you can put a face to those who may be contacting and connecting with you.
As many districts have staff changes in departments, we want to make sure everyone who should be receiving this newsletter, actually does. Please check with your co-workers to see who may be missing from our database. We want to include volunteer coordinators, business partnership specialist/managers, and community outreach departments. You can send updates to Kathleen.wright@ocps.net and Bonita.Hampton@fldoe.org .
We are hoping to fill a FAPE board position. The Ex-Officio board member assists in planning of events and other needs. It is not a board position with full responsibilities, but takes on initiatives important to the president. It is an excellent way to become involved in your state organization. If you are interested, please let me know.
We want to hear from you! There are several ways to do that: connect with your regional representative, follow us on Facebook, or submit and share the great things happening in your district for submission in the newsletter! The best way to keep up to date is to join FAPE! Information on how to join is included in this edition of the newsletter.

Until Next Time,

Kathleen Wright

FDOE Announces New B.E.S.T.
K-12 Standards
The Florida Department of Education has completed the review of Florida's K-12 academic standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics and made recommendations for revisions. The proposed Florida Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards will provide the foundation for teaching and learning are expected to be released in the coming days.  Click here for a summary of the process and highlights of the expected changes.

Best Practice Tip

Didn't get holiday greetings out? Not a problem! Send a "Welcome to Second Semester" or a "We Love Our Partners" greeting in February! Touching base with businesses on a regular basis is important to relationship building.

A great way to organize information to communicate with school sites is through Google Docs, Cloudup or Dropbox where updating is easy and information is accessible. No more searching through emails to find one particular attachment. Many of these programs are free!
