Florida Braces for Hurricane Helene’s Landfall Thursday
NCBFAA is keeping our Florida member companies and their staff and families, as well as across the Southeast, in our thoughts and prayers as they brace for Hurricane Helene’s landfall as a potential Category 4 storm on Thursday.
According to the latest weather reports, Port Tampa Bay and West Florida will likely see damaging storm surge, as well as heavy rain, from this storm, as it makes landfall.
“While the port's waterways are preparing to close, the port's landside operations remain OPEN,” Port Tampa Bay said in a Sept. 25 statement. “We will work with our fuel terminal operators and partners to ensure gas and other fuels move out of our port and to consumers as long as possible. Additionally, port staff will continue to work round-the-clock so we can re-open to full operations as soon as safely possible to support the community and region we serve.”

The storm will progress into central Georgia, where rainfall amounts could accumulate as much as 10 inches or more. Flooding and other damage is expected throughout the Southeast from the remnants of this hurricane in the days ahead.
NCBFAA leadership reminds our members in Florida and across the Southeast to exercise utmost caution and safety with regards to themselves, their families, and friends during this dangerous storm.
