Did you know?

This summer, Florida enacted House Bill 1189.

It prohibits life insurance companies from canceling, limiting, or denying coverage – or adjusting premium rates – based on genetic information.

Epigenetic tests that use only DNA methylation will likely not fall within the scope of this new law. For this reason, it's important to pay attention to the types of epigenetic tests you use to assess smoking and drinking.
Florida life insurers are also prohibited from:
Requiring or soliciting genetic information
Using genetic test results
Considering decisions or actions relating to genetic testing for insurance purposes
Similar laws may appear in other U.S. states soon.
