Florida PTA Supports a "Pause" in Florida's Accountability System!

Florida PTA is in agreement with the Florida Association of District School Superintendents' and Florida School Board Association's request to pause, before fully implementing Florida's new assessment test on the standards in all K-12 grade levels until there is complete confidence in teacher and student preparation, secure and tested infrastructure at all public schools for upgraded technology, a reliable and valid test, and appropriate and realistic benchmarks that will remain in place with each year.

Parents must be kept informed of their child's performance with any and all tests given.  These results should be used for diagnostic purposes only.

In addition, parents and other stakeholders must be kept informed and involved during the transition period to fully understand Florida's new standards.

Florida PTA continues to "empower all" on the importance of advocating for all children.  Why PTA?  Because our children matter!

Florida PTA comprises hundreds of thousands of families, students, teachers, administrators and business and community leaders devoted to improving the lives of children/youth in our state. PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in the state of Florida, as well as the nation. PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children. More information is available by contacting Florida PTA (407/855-7604 or executivedirector@floridapta.org).
