Tuesday’s Children provides a lifetime of healing for those whose lives have
been forever changed by terrorism or traumatic loss. Through a time-tested,
long-term approach, Tuesday’s Children programming serves and supports our nation’s military Families of the Fallen; builds resilience and common bonds in communities worldwide recovering from tragedies; and keeps the promise to support all those impacted by 9/11.
Dear Tuesday's Children Friends, Families and Supporters

We had a very special and active month highlighted by our annual Take Our Children to Work Day . 70 Gold Star and 9/11 children were hosted by 40 different workplaces in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Boston - 21 Senators and Congressmen participated in Washington, D.C.; 17 workplaces hosted children in New York City; and in Boston - through our partners at Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund and Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund - everyone participated in a special visit to the State House.

Additionally, in May, Tuesday's Children hosted a Lessons in Recovery & Resilience Forum at the Ford Foundation for Social Justice in NYC. 150 experts, panelists, presenters and interested parties attended. The forum was described as "world class" and 100% of survey respondents reported that the program met or exceeded their expectations.

With gratitude to our Junior Board, on Saturday, May 4th, 350 young adults and professionals came together to raise funds for Tuesday's Children during the running of the Kentucky Derby. It was a spirited and successful event.

Lastly, it's not too late to purchase flowers from 1-800-FLOWERS and support Tuesday's Children. During the month of May, please use this link: Buy Flowers and Help Gold Star Families. You can receive a 10% discount with promo code TC10.

Enjoy the long weekend while hopefully taking time to honor and remember the incredible sacrifices of all those who have served in the U.S. Military.

Warmest regards,
Terry Sears

Take Our Children to Work Day

Take Our Children to Work Day (TOCTWD) allows children who have lost a parent, the person who could have guided them on the path to professional success, to have opportunities they would otherwise be deprived of. From crafting recipes at Blue Apron in New York City to touring the State House in Massachusetts and sitting in on Congressional meetings in Washington, D.C., it was surely a memorable day for all involved!
New York City
On April 25th, we placed 34 children across 17 dynamic workplaces, such as Microsoft, the People's Improv Theater and LEGOLAND.
Boston
On April 30th, Gold Star children received an exclusive tour of the Massachusetts State House and were issued formal citations by state legislators to acknowledge their participation in the program. A special thank you to our partners at Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund and Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund , who helped make this day possible.
Washington D.C.
On May 8th, 28 children were matched with 21 Congress members and had the opportunity to tour Capitol Hill and meet with Congressional staff.

Programs like this are only possible through your support. Please consider making a donation to ensure the existence of TOCTWD in the coming years.
Lessons in Recovery & Resilience Forum

On May 13th, we hosted Lessons in Recovery & Resilience: Building Resilience After Terrorism & Traumatic Loss, a one-day forum at the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice. There were over 100 attendees including Tuesday's Children family members across all our service populations, mental health professionals, community providers, academic faculty and students, nonprofit professionals and representatives of the philanthropic community. Additional participants tuned in via live stream and sessions were recorded. (Link coming soon).

The forum featured 15 speakers and panelists, including survivors impacted by terrorism and mass shootings, providers and activists working with those communities, and representatives of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Targeted Violence & Terrorism Prevention, the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Overseas Victims of Terrorism, the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, Harvard University Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Twitter, Tech against Terrorism, CNN, NYPD Intelligence & Counterterrorism, the Bobby Resciniti Healing Hearts Foundation and Survivors Empowered. We look forward to collaborative efforts that will come out of this event to better support for survivors and communities.
