Update on moving to Tier 2 mitigations
The Illinois Department of Public Health has relaxed some Covid-19 mitigations, moving us (Region 10), from Tier 3 to Tier 2.

Here's what we know now:
  • High school boys are allowed to practice and compete with their high school teams (since this is the normal time of the IHSA boys swimming season). Good luck, boys!
  • We, at the Flying Fish, are developing plans for a return to small group practices in mid to late February.
  • Some of our older swimmers may return to group practices sooner. We will send an email as soon as we have a safe, workable plan for this.
  • We will complete the full slate of our currently scheduled private coaching sessions. These sessions are scheduled through February 22.

We are working hard to thoughtfully develop plans for this new mitigation tier. Please bear with us as we move ahead carefully with safety at the forefront.
More lap swimming options now available for swim team members
As many of our Flying Fish boys return to their respective high schools for swimming, we have additional lap swimming times open for our older swim team members -- Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum and Thunder.

Reservations can be made via Community Pass.

If you have a partial credit from the paused Fall II season and would like to apply it to lap swimming or to private sessions, please contact Pete.
Reminder about pool entrance and parking

Due to construction at the YWCA, the only entrance to the pool area is through the door to the big pool off of Ridge Avenue. The door currently has a tent over it to help with inclement weather.

The drop off and pick up area remains to the immediate north of the pool entrance. (The path from the drop off and pick up area to the pool door is shown in yellow.)

Parking is not allowed in the drop off and pick up area.

Ridge Avenue is at the bottom of this depiction.
Covid-19 protocols and updated travel guidelines
We are grateful to Flying Fish families for your care and concern with regard to our Covid-19 protocols. As a reminder, as part of these protocols, we do not have available locker rooms and anyone entering the building must be masked at all times unless they are swimming.

And, while local authorities recommend against travel right now, if you do travel, please adhere to the City of Chicago's updated guidelines, which require a negative test no more than 72 hours prior to arriving in Chicago or quarantining for 10 days once you return from another state.
