We have a few practice changes and cancellations, noted below, for Presidents Day, along with other items for the calendar:

Please also note that Goldfish and Ironfish no longer have weekday AM practices.

Saturday, March 2, is the last day of the regular season. See below for information on clinics, which will be held in March, and the spring season, which begins April 1.

Welcome back to the Flying Fish boys who have completed their high school seasons. Congratulations on your championship meet performances! To our boys who are still competing: Good luck in tomorrow's Sectional meet!

Swimmers can polish their skills during the off season through our swim and water polo clinics.

For the swim clinics, each week will focus on the following:

Week of March 4 - breaststroke

Week of March 11 - butterfly

Week of March 18 - starts and turns

Week of March 25 - freestyle and backstroke

Swim clinic details per age group:

10-unders

Cost: $65 for one week, $120 for two weeks, $175 for three weeks, $240 for all four weeks

11-14 year olds

Cost: $85 for one week, $160 for two weeks, $220 for three weeks, $295 for all four weeks

Details about water polo clinics for 11-15 year olds:

Cost: $75 for one week, $140 for two weeks, $195 for three weeks, $240 for all four weeks

You can sign up for clinics at the front desk. Please indicate the weeks in which your swimmer will participate.

Our current season ends Saturday, March 2, and our spring season begins Monday, April 1 . If your swimmer is interested, please sign up for the spring season by Friday, March 15. This will help us know our numbers and if we can offer spots to others interested in swimming with the Flying Fish.

You'll find information about groups and fees for the spring season here . Please note that the practice schedule is the same as the fall/winter schedule. 

What group will my swimmer be in?   Other than Greenfish, your swimmer will be in the same practice group as before although we may ask a few swimmers to switch. Please note that Greenfish who are 6 or 7 years old will move to Purplefish, 8- or 9-year-old Greenfish can choose between Purplefish or Yellowfish, and Greenfish who are 10 or older will move to Bronzefish for the spring season.

 

How do we sign up?  You simply need to fill out the YWCA activity form at the front desk, and pay by check or credit card. All fees are payable to YWCA Evanston/North Shore. Please indicate your swimmer's name, group w/fee under "class," and indicate Flying Fish Booster fee under "other." 

 

Why the swim in the spring?  We encourage all Flying Fish to swim in the spring season if possible. Swimming development is a gradual process, and the spring and summer seasons can greatly enhance the process. The spring season also focuses on more intensive stroke work, which is particularly beneficial to younger swimmers.
