If you're traveling for spring break, we are still following the City of Chicago's Covid-19 emergency travel order, which requires a negative test or a 10-day quarantine when returning from a state in the orange category.

You read that right! Illinois Swimming, our local affiliate of USA Swimming, is allowing a gradual return to limited capacity meets. (The photo is from our last pre-Covid meet at the YWCA in March of 2020.)

Welcome back and congratulations to the Flying Fish boys who recently completed their high school seasons with top-notch swims. Read more about the boys here and here.

The Siebel Sailors program at the Sheridan Shore Sailing School in Wilmette is looking for applicants for its spring and summer sessions. Full scholarships are available!

The goal of Siebel Sailors is to make sailing more accessible and increase opportunity and diversity in the sport. The Siebel program wants to recruit "sailors from diverse backgrounds of race, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin. . ."

If you are middle school- or high school-age and you fit the criteria, apply for this program by reaching out to Susan Barton, a former Flying Fish parent. Or talk to a coach.

If you haven't paid your registration fees or recent equipment charges on Community Pass, please do so. If you are paying your registration fees in two installments, the second installment is due April 2.

We’re building a stronger, more sustainable aquatics program that will support swimmers and their families for years to come, with new and renovated locker rooms, new family changing rooms, new ventilation systems, and 40% more parking!  

We’re expanding our ability to provide emergency housing and support for women and children experiencing domestic violence by building a new Family Support Center. 

We’re helping families build a path to economic stability by adding more space for job training, financial education and housing assistance. And we’re building communities committed to equity by increasing convening space for our Equity Institute trainings and workshops.  

For almost two years we’ve been in the leadership phase of an $18.5 million capital campaign to support this expansion. We’ve raised almost $17 million, and now we’re inviting the broader community to help us cross the finish line! 

We’re hoping our entire swim community will give now to help us finish the campaign! Every gift, in any amount, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by our Flying Fish Challenge. This $100,000 matching gift challenge was generously created by YWCA swim families in our Flying Fish community.
