Fall meet schedule and sign-up forms now available
Our meet schedule for the fall season is now available. You'll find a copy of the schedule here and the meet sign-up form is here.

Please check the meet schedule for eligibility before you sign up. Sign-up forms for those participating in October meets are due September 12. If you're not participating in October meets, your sign-up form is due October 7.

You can turn in your completed meet form via hard copy in Pete's folder or by sending him an email. Make sure you include your swimmer's name!
Information about late registration
If you were unable to register your swimmer during our registration hours, we're offering late registration sessions on the following days:
  • Tuesday, September 3, 11 am - 1 pm
  • Wednesday, September 4, 4 - 6:30 pm

If you plan on joining us for the September pre-season or the regular fall season, please join us at these late registration times. If your child plans to swim and you can't register at the times above, please email Pete. (You can't register at the front desk so we need to free up a coach and set up a time.)

Even if your child is joining us later in the fall, you need to complete registration ASAP because we send our roster of swimmers to USA Swimming (the governing body of swimming) in mid-September.

You'll find information about groups, practice times, and fees here.
Early pre-season practices begin Sept. 3

Want to get back in the water for some fine-tuning (and fun) before the pre-season starts? Join us any day or all week during our mini clinic, Tuesday, September 3 - Saturday, September 7, at the YWCA.

Each day will focus on a different stroke/skill as follows:
Tuesday - freestyle
Wednesday - backstroke
Thursday - breaststroke
Friday - butterfly
Saturday - starts and turns

Schedule for 9 year olds and younger:
Tuesday (9/3) - Friday (9/6): 4:30-5:30 pm; Saturday (9/7): 1:30-2:30 pm

Schedule for 10-13 year olds:
Tuesday (9/3) - Friday (9/6): 5:30-6:30 pm; Saturday (9/7): 12:30-1:30 pm

The cost for the mini clinic is $15/day or $55 for all week. Sign up at the front desk.
We're launching a girls water polo club!
You already know that swimming translates to water polo. But water polo offers a whole new array of skills, with its focus on hand-eye coordination, intense teamwork, and great conditioning. (It's been said that water polo players are better conditioned athletes than any others except for ice hockey players).

Most important of all, water polo is fun! That's why we're launching a Flying Fish girls water polo club for girls ages 9-13. If you've never played water polo before or have plenty of experience, we want you!

We'll meet on Sundays, noon to 1:00 pm at the YWCA, and our first seven-week session will run Sunday, September 8 - Sunday, October 20. The cost is $75 for the entire session.

If you have questions, please email Pete.
Suit fitting with All-American Aquatics on September 14
Stop by the YWCA on Saturday, September 14, from 11 am to 4 pm to order your team suit and purchase additional swim equipment, like goggles, from our vendor, All-American Aquatics.

We strongly encourage everyone to attend the fitting and try on suits because brands are sized differently and can't be returned once they're customized with our logo. Remember: We ask all swimmers to purchase a team suit each year. Suits stretch with minimal wear and we want our swimmers to be well equipped for both practice and meets.

Greenfish are not required to purchase a team suit, but if your Greenfish would like a team suit and any other equipment, we warmly welcome you to stop by on September 14.
Updated long-course team records
Congratulations to our swimmers who set new long-course team records during our spring and summer seasons. In our previous email, we accidentally omitted Erin Long's new record in the open girls 400-meter freestyle. You'll find our most up-to-date list of long-course records, including Erin's, here.
Engage with YWCA Evanston/North Shore
Mark your calendar for our annual YWomen celebration, which will be held on Saturday, November 9, at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago.

Tickets will be available online in late September. In the meantime, you can read more about the event here.
