Reminders for fall 2020 swim team participants
For Flying Fish swimmers returning from last year:
  • You should have received an email from Illinois Swimming Inc. (our local affiliate of USA Swimming) with a link to sign a Covid-19 waiver. If you did not receive this email, click here for instructions.
  • If you have updates to your medical form, please contact Pete.

For swimmers who are new to the Flying Fish this season:
  • You should have received an email from Pete with a USA Swimming membership form and a medical form to complete. If you are new to the team and did not receive an email with these forms, contact Pete.
  • New swimmers also need to sign a Covid-19 waiver through Illinois Swimming Inc. Click here for instructions.

For swimmers age 12+ and all parents:
  • In order to participate in the fall season, completion of USA Swimming's Safe Sport training is required by September 30. See below.
Safe Sport training required by September 30
Thank you to those of you who have completed USA Swimming's Safe Sport training program, which helps codify and ensure our commitment to a safe, healthy, and positive environment for our swimmers, coaches, parents, and volunteers.

For those of you -- swimmers (age 12+) and parents of swimmers of all ages -- who have not yet completed this training, it is required by September 30 for those participating in the fall season.

The training centers on completing one free, web-based session.
  • For Safe Sport training for swimmers 12-over click here.
  • For Safe Sport training for parents click here.

You can also directly access the training here. (Swimmers will click on the red button and parents will click on the blue button.)

Our LSC is Illinois Swimming Inc. (ISI) and our club name is YWFF. Parents, if you are not a member of USA Swimming (most of you aren't) you will need to create a free account.

Note: The athlete training course takes about 25 minutes and the parent course is slightly longer.
How to purchase swimsuits and other equipment
We are not requiring team suits for the fall season, but if you'd like to purchase a swimsuit or other Flying Fish gear (backpacks, sweats, etc.) you can do so through our team store.

We also have swim caps (with the Flying Fish logo), goggles, and other equipment available for purchase via Community Pass.

If you're unsure about what equipment is needed, check with a coach.
Marathon prize pickup
marathon 2020
We apologize for the delay in distributing marathon prizes. (The pandemic and construction at the YWCA complicated this process.)

You can pick up your 2020 Swim Marathon prizes on these dates at the following times:
  • Sunday, October 4 -- 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Monday, October 5 -- noon - 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 6 -- 8 a.m. - noon

Prizes will be available in the lobby of the YWCA or the parking lot (weather permitting). Please wear a mask or face covering to pick up your prizes.

Questions? Email Anne Wolff.
Go high school girls!
We're proud of our Flying Fish girls who are working hard swimming for their respective high schools and competing in virtual meets. You'll find stories about their seasons -- featuring some of our Flying Fish girls -- here and here.
In other YWCA news. . .
Did you know that YWCA Evanston/North Shore (home of the Flying Fish) owns and manages two boutiques for women? The Shop for Good in Wilmette is a resale shop and the Crowded Closet in Evanston is a consignment shop.

Both shops are looking for volunteers! If you like fashion, fun people, and want to connect with YWCA's mission, email ywshop@ywca-ens.org or crowdedcloset@ywca-ens.org to learn more.

All profits from these shops support YWCA's domestic violence and economic advancement programs.
