THANK YOU FOR LOVING OUR LIBRARIES

Thank you for showing your strong support for the Dallas Public Library. As the City of Dallas builds its FY2026-27 budget, it’s important that our local leaders hear from residents who believe in strong, vibrant, modern libraries.

Under the proposed regional model, five library locations would be designated as “flagship” libraries. These locations would be open seven days a week, with evening hours, and would offer expanded services. Flagship libraries are designed to serve as regional anchors while working alongside neighborhood branches.

The Friends support the concept of the flagship model, but without closing neighborhood branches. The current proposal recommends closing Arcadia Park, Oak Lawn, Renner Frankford and Skyline branches as part of cost savings requested by the City.

We hope you will join us in asking the City Council to restore the proposed $2.6 million cut so Dallas can build this flagship model while continuing to support its much-loved branches.

What Can You Do?

Share why your local library matters. Personal stories make a difference.

  • Ask City Leaders to Restore Library Funding

Specifically, ask them to restore the $2.6 million to the library’s budget as part of the FY2026-27 City budget cycle, so the Dallas Public Library can create flagships and keep neighborhood libraries open.

  • Show Up and Speak Up

Attend city council meetings and voice your support for a strong, citywide library system. Interested in speaking at a meeting? Email us and we’ll share more details!

Donations, advocacy, and volunteer support help expand programs and services across the system.

Let’s work together to show our support for the Dallas Public Library.
