Legislative Update

The board continues to monitor Senate Bill 78 (SB78), legislation that revises Nevada’s boards and commissions. SB78 expands upon previous legislation that created the Office of Boards, Commissions and Council Standards in the Nevada Department of Business and Industry. The bill would substantially change how Nevada's regulatory boards operate, including the NSBAIDRD. SB78 would consolidate all boards under a centralized administration in the Dept. of Business and Industry. It would also eliminate the NSBAIDRD and combine the regulation of architecture, interior design and residential design with landscape architecture.

The Dept. of Business and Industry released a policy paper with its recommendations, which can be found on its website. Nevada Office of Boards and Commissions

The NSBAIDRD issued a response to the Dept. of Business and Industry's policy paper. The board supports the broad reform goals outlined in the policy paper. However, centralizing the board’s administrative staff is unnecessary and risks disrupting the efficiency and effectiveness of the board’s service. Board Response

On April 11, the Senate Government Affairs Committee passed SB78 out of committee with a 4-3 vote to "do pass as amended."

Disciplinary Actions

(January 23 through March 26, 2025)

Inquiries are routinely sent to both registrants and non-registrants for alleged violations of Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) and Nevada Administrative Codes (NAC).

There were three cases this period that were submitted for board consideration and approved. Additionally, four cases were closed because there was no basis for the allegations, or the complaint did not fall within the board's jurisdiction.

The following cases were closed by means of settlement agreement. As part of the agreement, respondents agreed to ensure compliance with Chapter 623. Should the respondents be involved in a subsequent case and found to have again violated NRS, NAC or Rules of Conduct, the case may be used as an aggravating factor.

Every effort is made to ensure that the following information is correct. Before making any decision based on this information you should contact the NSBAIDRD.
