Agency Update on Ohio
Vaccination Efforts
The Ohio Department of Aging and Ohio Department of Health have enlisted the state’s Area Agencies on Aging to help share authoritative information regarding phased distribution of coronavirus vaccines. Demand is currently higher than the limited quantities of available vaccine resulting in vaccination appointments filling quickly. As of February 8, all Ohioans age 65 and older are eligible to receive the vaccination. Patience in addition to persistence is recommended in pursuing a vaccination appointment. As additional doses become available, the state anticipates vaccinating all older adults who want it over the next months.
In Ohio's vaccination plan, there are currently more than 700 providers across the state receiving the vaccine to help ensure every county receives a supply and Ohioans have access to the vaccine close to their homes. The Ohio Department of Health is working with the Ohio Department of Medicaid to address transportation options for Ohioans who need assistance getting to a vaccination site.
Searchable Site for Vaccination
The state’s searchable site for vaccination providers near you is available at vaccine.coronavirus.ohio.gov. Governor DeWine asks that Ohioans continue to follow and promote safety measures to help control the virus' spread even after vaccination. Learn more information to keep yourself and others safe on coronavirus.ohio.gov.
Anyone needing assistance determining where and how to find a vaccine provider may contact us at 937-223-HELP (4357) or 1-800-258-7277.

While Ohio businesses have re-opened since the initial shutdown last spring, the slow return to normal operations has resulted in a prolonged delay for many employees to either return to work or reach previous hours and pay. Meanwhile, there are customer service jobs with flexible hours now available due to a shortage of personal care aides (PCAs) serving older adults in home and community-based programs. The Agency is offering Certified Nurse Aide training for pandemic-impacted workers. Read more...

2021 Calendar Correction
Our apologies to Shelby County Historical Society for the misprint that omitted credit and information under their submitted photograph in our 2021 calendar. We appreciate their help and participation with this project. What should have printed beneath the January photograph was:
The Bonnyconnellan Castle was Sidney’s first imposing residence, built overlooking the city in 1886 by business owner John D. Loughlin modeling castles from his homeland of Ireland. It features Bedford limestone towers with an entrance looming atop 40 hand-cut stone steps from Walnut Street. Photo courtesy of the Shelby County Historical society (shelbycountyhistory.org).
