Focus on Business:
Citrus Heights
Maintaining Business Safety from the
Citrus Heights Police Department
The Citrus Heights Police Department (CHPD) continues to monitor regional and national events and how those events affect our Citrus Heights community. Protecting our local businesses remains a top priority.

As CHPD resources and time allow, information will be updated on social media with critical information pertaining to major incidents. As always, the goal of our Citrus Heights Police Department is to maintain community safety and prevent the destruction of property.

We sincerely thank all of our residents and community members for your unwavering support.

Please see the following tips from CHPD to keep your business safe:

  • High public visibility around businesses often reduces criminal activity.
  • Increase natural surveillance by keeping windows and doors to your business free from anything that would obstruct visibility into the businesses during all hours.
  • Landscaping around businesses should be well maintained and trimmed. Low bushes and shrubs should remain under 2’ and trees should have a 6’ clearance from the ground to the lowest hanging branch.
  • Is there sufficient lighting? Install tamper-proof lighting which illuminates parking lots, walkways, exits and entrances.
  • Any external faucets and electrical outlets should have a lock/lock box.
  • Install High Definition (HD) video surveillance and alarm systems.
  • Empower employees to report safety concerns and train them in what to do in the event of a crime.
  • Do not keep large amounts of currency.
  • Stay proactive! Call CHPD to report suspicious activity and crime.
Free Face Masks for Citrus Heights Businesses Still Available
As our business community begins re-opening under guidelines for social distancing, we know sourcing supplies can be difficult and costly. The Citrus Heights Police Department is still delivering face masks for local businesses. As the program begins to wind down, if you would like to receive FREE personal protective equipment (PPE) for your employees, please email to complete the registration and schedule a delivery from our Code Enforcement team.
We encourage our Citrus Heights business community to take advantage of the free masks program soon, as the program will run until mid-June. Request will be fulfilled while supplies last last.
Re-Opening in Stage 2
Citrus Heights officially moved further into stage 2 of California's Resiliency Roadmap.

This means that we have more clarity on the types of businesses that can move forward with re-opening, in accordance with State guidelines.

If your business is among the industries that can re-open, you will need to complete the proper industry specific check-lists and guidelines in order to resume operations:

Our Economic Development Division has compiled a list of resources for
re-opening Citrus Heights businesses.

Please check out the COVID-19 Business Roadmap for guidelines and check-lists required for each industry to re-open.
COVID-19 Relief Options Still Available
The Small Business Administration (SBA) still has COVID-19 Relief Resources available for our business community. These loans can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing and can be a term loan or used to bridge the gap while applying for direct assistance.
