Hello, I'm Dan Long,
I am very pleased to be affiliated as of August 2015 with the patent law firm of Maine Cernota & Rardin. I have enjoyed an excellent professional relationship with Vern Maine and the other members of this firm as a client for the past thirteen years while I served as the Senior Intellectual Property Counsel for BAE Systems Electronic Systems Sector here in Nashua. BAE Systems is a major U.S. defense contractor. In that role I managed the growth and exploitation of a large patent portfolio of government interest patents in a high technology, complex Government contracting environment. I conducted and managed outside firms doing invention capture, patent prosecution, licensing and enforcement activities.
Prior to my time at BAE Systems Electronic Systems, I also held responsible intellectual property positions at FCI Electronics, Inc. and PPG Industries, Inc., and at the law firm of Parmelee, Miller, Welsh & Kratz.
I am a graduate of the US Naval Academy and served for several years as an artillery officer in the US Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve. I received my Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. I am admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. I am also presently a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Licensing Executives Society.
I reside with my wife Maureen and my two daughters in Amherst, New Hampshire.
In addition to basic patent prosecution activities, I expect to be pursuing alternative intellectual property business strategies with selected clients, always looking for ways to advance the client's business goals, monetize the client's IP assets, and find new opportunities.
Please contact me anytime here at the firm if I can be of service. I would be grateful for your referrals as well.
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Long
