Every year, the School District of Philadelphia applies for federal funding under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). These funds help the District provide supplemental education services, academic supports, and professional development to improve academic achievement and close equity gaps in our schools. Join us to learn about the application and how the District prioritizes funding decisions. Participants will have the opportunity to provide feedback, which will be used in the planning for next school year's application.
All District community members are welcome to participate. Spanish interpretation will be available at the 10:00 AM session.

Amidst the daily hustle, the parents and caregivers of Martha Washington School recently enjoyed a moment of tranquility and self-care. Family Engagement Liaison, Bridgette Holmes, partnered with Urbnseek to host the "Blk Tea: Self Care & Mental Wellness Workshop." Over a cup of tea, families participated in an aromatherapy project and discussed the importance of prioritizing self-care. Nurse Kisha Lawson Elder led a calming breathing exercise, and caregivers had the opportunity to connect with a therapist. This safe and supportive space allowed guardians to unwind, connect with themselves, and build community with their peers.

Each family also received a board game highlighting Philadelphia's iconic neighborhoods and landmarks, providing a fun and educational experience. The event allowed caregivers and students to enjoy quality time together while celebrating the wonders of their city.
