Silent Auction Items Needed
Do you have a passion or creative streak for making gift baskets? Or perhaps you have a connection with a specialty store in your community.
Best selling items include baskets of specialty or themed items (spa, food, wine, holiday, college bling) and holiday gifts.
Help us grow the field of librarianship
. Your support of the silent auction helps support future librarians with academic scholarships. Note we awarded eight $1,000 scholarships in 2018.

Volunteer Opportunities with ILF
Have you considered serving in an on-site or leadership capacity with Indiana Library Federation?
We are seeking several volunteers for one-time, short-term or all-year, long-term assignments. The ILF Board is making appointments for 2019.
Short-term opportunities (OCT - NOV)
:
*
Annual Conference volunteers
give shifts at the conference Nov. 12-14. Registered attendees may volunteer for a specific 1-2 hour block and avoid conflicts with desired session topics. Other volunteers who are not registered are asked to volunteer at the conference for at least four hours.
*
Computer / Technology inventory
- Help us sort, inventory, update and label our technology equipment. Estimate 1/2 to 1 day in Indy office. Some technology experience required. Why? We received a donation that will enable a computer lab at conferences.
Long-term opportunities (2019)
:
ILF Committees, Association Advisory Boards and Divisions are comprised of a leaders from academic, public, school and special library staff, as well as trustees, friends and advocates. Meetings and requirements vary from a few meetings a year to 2-4 hours every month. Most allow participation by conference call and online meeting. We seek diverse representation of library types, positions, geography, skills and experience. Serving in ILF Leadership is a great way to meet other people and support the library community.
*
ILF Committees -
Awards, Advocacy/Legislative, Book Awards (YHBA, Rosie and Read Aloud), Communications, Intellectual Freedom and Professional Development Committees will likely have vacancies in 2019. Note that some committees have waiting lists, and many routinely fill vacancies throughout the year, so tell us your interest.
*
ILF Divisions
are the special groups for people with similar interests or positions. Aligned with our Strategic Vision, some Divisions will focus on special projects in 2019. Each Division has a leadership team that meets regularly and guides special projects and professional development. Below are a few examples:
- Marketing Division;
- Management Division;
- ILL/Circulation;
- Tech Services; and
- Youth Services Division especially needs representation from northern Indiana.
Email us
with "Volunteer" in the subject line and describe your interest. Or submit the
volunteer form online
at the bottom of the membership page.

Advocacy Alert:
Museum and Library Services Act
Do you value InfoExpress, INSPIRE, summer reading support by ISL, SRCS and LSTA grants? Help ask our members of Congress to reauthorize the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The Museum and Library Services Act was introduced in the House (
H.R.6988
) and Senate (
S.3530
)
. Ideally, Congress will act to reauthorize and then appropriate federal funding.
