Indiana General Assembly gearing up for session
|
The
Indiana General Assembly
held its Organization Day November 20, welcoming 18 newly elected legislators. Republicans retain super-majorities in both chambers, with 67-33 in the House and 40-10 in the Senate. See the
report from Bose Public Affairs
, with support by Hannah News, for bios of new legislators.
As legislators embark on writing the biennial budget, increased support for IN Department of Child Services and teacher pay are among top funding priorities for legislators. Legislation about bias crimes, medical marijuana and online sports betting will likely grab the media spotlight.
The Indiana Library Federation will release its 2019 Policy Priorities in December, as
Advocacy
is one of ILF's key services to members. Note that ILF is providing the November Bose report to all; future reports are "member only" benefits.
