MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

January 13, 2025

The Delaware Prosperity Partnership has done an excellent job of bringing new employers to Delaware and assisting existing businesses already operating here with expansion plans. While we celebrate those successes, we need to be constantly mindful of what others see when they pore through data that describes us. Fair or unfair, the data is out there, and site selectors, business leaders, employees being asked to relocate here, and others all analyze different data points and draw conclusions. Therefore, we believe it is in our collective interests to curate widely available data, compile it all in a single book we’ve named the Competitiveness Bluebook, and focus the lens of business leaders, policymakers, and Delawareans alike on these key metrics.

A scan of the Bluebook will show there are rankings we can be proud of, and a few that offer significant challenges for us. The State Chamber sees some of this data as an opportunity to do better. This data will help inform our policy agendas and political activities, starting with our 2025 Competitiveness Agenda, which we’re proud to roll out as the 153rd General Assembly convenes tomorrow. The agenda includes items that we’ve identified as critical because they affect not just our members but the business community at large.

We are in this together, and we hope all of you will join us in lifting Delaware employers and their employees in ways that bring about meaningful improvements shared by all.
