Finnish American Folk School Newsletter

August 2025

After a busy and joyful summer at the Finnish American Folk School, we've taken a quick breath and now we're ready to jump into fall programming. From online Finnish language classes to our first ever Kids Day with Clay workshop, there are many great learning opportunities coming up in September and October.

For all of you who have been requesting birch bark basketry - good news! Karen Tembreull will be back teaching Introduction to Bias Woven Birch Bark Basketry. Using traditional bias weaving techniques, students will create a beverage holding basket. You won't want to miss this opportunity!

Thanks to everyone who visited us this summer, took classes, and volunteered. We can't do it without you and we hope to see you again sometime soon.

Weavers in Wynne Mattila's Raanu of Karjala (Krokbrogd) workshop created some truly incredible wool runners last week.
