Emmi Kuittinen of Helsinki will teach lament singing online April 5-6 [Photo by Sini Suomi]
Long-time friends of the Finnish American Folk School likely remember when Emmi Kuittinen taught a lament workshop for the FAFS about three years ago. It was an incredibly informative and deeply moving experience. She'll return this April to share the lament tradition of Karelia and Ingria with Folk School students online. Students will not only learn about lament, but also have an opportunity to compose their own.
As we move into spring, we're also looking forward to some brand new classes in Hancock. The wood shop will be busy with a new Design-Build Workshop focused on inventive reuse and an opportunity to learn how to tune up old planes and chisels. April also brings the return of in-person Finnish language learning as well as family-friendly fun making clay whistles in the ceramics studio. Don't let false spring get you down - join us for some community fun at the Folk School!
