On Saturday, May 10 from 10am-2pm we're hosting our first ever Open House & Fundraiser in our Hancock studios. It's a great opportunity to check out our school and find some unique treasures from our surplus supply sale. We'll feature surplus yarn, fabric, books, and magazines as well as some wood and metal working equipment. The family-friendly event will include weaving and ceramics demonstrations along with a drop-in ceramic plant label workshop.
We're also thrilled to welcome green wood carver Alex Yerks back to the Keweenaw to teach May 16-18. Learn to sharpen your knives in his workshop Are You Sharp? Sharpening Basics and go from tree to table in his Spoon Carving workshop. Students of all levels are welcome in both workshops.
If textiles are your passion, you might like to learn Sock Mending with Anna Dijkstra or dive into Ryijy Weaving with Lisa Wiitala. Whatever your interest we hope you'll be able to join us this month at the folk school.
