Dear Scott,

Lies of Omission, the first in my new Hanneke Bauer historical mystery series, will be published by Level Best Books on November 30!

Would you enjoy an illustrated program revealing the themes and artifacts that inspired the story? Near or far, you can do so at the launch party!

My local independent bookstore, Mystery To Me, will host the celebration on December 1, 7:00 pm (CST). The event is free but pre-registration is required.

As a bonus, I'll sign and personalize any books ordered through the store.

I suspect you'll find Hanneke's world—Watertown, WI, in 1855—as fascinating as I do!

Three States, Two Rivers, One National Park

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park embraces land in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland, the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers confluence, and layers upon layers of fascinating history. I had the honor of serving as Writer-In-Residence there in October, and it was amazing! You can learn more about the experience on my Sites & Stories blog. Start here and scroll through the weekly entries.

Huge thanks to the Harpers Ferry Park Association and park staff for making my visit possible.

Settling In

Although I savored every minute of my residency, it's nice to be back home. After the appropriate welcome, feline muse Eliza let me know it was time for the two of us to settle down at/on my desk and get to work.

I'm currently working on three books: the 2nd Hanneke Bauer mystery, the 11th Chloe Ellefson mystery, and a stand-alone inspired by my residency. I'm grateful for this abundance of riches, but it's time to settle in, put the coffee pot on, and focus! November is a perfect time for writing.

The month also brings my favorite holiday. Mr. Ernst and I hope you have many blessings to count this Thanksgiving!

Warm Regards,
