Community Solar
What is Community Solar? C ommunity solar is a solar field whose electricity is shared by more than one property. The primary purpose is to allow community members the opportunity to subscribe to and share the benefits of solar power even if they cannot or prefer not to install solar panels on their property. Project participants benefit from the electricity generated by the community solar farm, which costs less than the price they would ordinarily pay to their utility.
Is there Community Solar in my state? Nineteen states either have policies supporting community solar projects or independent initiatives led by utilities and other groups that have decided to make these projects happen. The top states for community solar are Massachusetts, New York, Minnesota, and Colorado.
