Sister Jon Julie Sullivan went home to her good God on August 10, at age 82. During her 64 years as a SNDdeN she shared her gift of communication through writing, photography, poetry and presentations. Her deep compassion was especially evident in her care for elderly and infirm Sisters in Massachusetts.

Sister Mary (Mary Bernard) Laxague
(1931 - 2022)

Sister Mary Laxague died on August 11, at age 90. after serving as Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 71 years. She was a talented teacher, professor and administrator. Though a quiet presence, she inspired and touched the hearts of many, including her students at Notre Dame de Namur University.

West Region Jubilarians Celebrated
|
On Sunday, August 14, eleven Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur of the West Region celebrated their Jubilees with family and friends at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, Calif.
Jubilarian Sisters Joan Maritz, Mavourneen McGinty, Carol Miller and Julie Marie Thorpe did not attend the event but were there in spirit and remembered. In total, the 2022 West Region Jubilarians have served for 755 years!

Marilyn Tencza, Ed.D. is the new Principal at Notre Dame Academy, Worcester, Massachusetts. Marilyn is an NDA graduate whose career has been dedicated to education at all levels. Most recently, she has been the Superintendent of Schools for two towns in Massachusetts.
Marilyn is thrilled to be back at NDA. and the Sisters are thrilled to have her back in her new role!

Sister Jeanette Braun Steps Down
|
After a decade leading the TABLE of PLENTY (TOP) in Half Moon Bay, Calif., Sister Jeanette Braun is stepping down. Under her direction, more than 100,000 meals were served to needy seniors, families, and people without homes.
At a delightful celebration attended by nearly 100 TOP volunteer cooks, servers, greeters and others, Sister Jeanette was given an apron signed by volunteers.
Going forward, Sister Jeanette will continue to serve others in informal ways and will be a TOP volunteer and guest herself!
