Holly Springs Food Cupboard Celebrates 15th Anniversary | | |
This June, the Holly Springs Food Cupboard is celebrating its 15th anniversary!
The Cupboard began in 2010 operating out of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church annex. In 2011, the Cupboard moved to its permanent location at 621 W Holly Springs Road.
From distributing our first bags of groceries to providing record numbers of Thanksgiving dinners, the Cupboard has witnessed incredible growth, both in the number of clients we serve and in the variety of foods we are able to provide.
But throughout the years, one thing remains the same: the unwavering generosity of our neighbors, volunteers, and partners who team with us to fulfill our mission of providing supplemental food and referral assistance to those in need in the Holly Springs community.
As we celebrate, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our success – from the dedicated volunteers who staff our operations to the generous donors who fill our shelves. You are the heart of the Holly Springs Food Cupboard.
Celebrate with us this month! Consider donating 15 non-perishable food items to the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. Visit our website to view most-needed food items and community drop-off locations.

The Holly Springs Food Cupboard is deeply grateful for many neighbors and organizations that donated much needed food to replenish shelves to help meet an increased and ongoing need.
Bikes For Hope, My Way Tavern, and Heroes Express Car Wash teamed up all through April to support the Cupboard in a big way! Led by the incredible Tim Overton, this crew didn’t just collect - they strategized... they reached out to ask what we needed most, hunted down the best deals, and went on a full-on shopping spree! Over three weeks last month, they donated a jaw-dropping amount of food, including case loads of pasta sauce and veggies.
Tim's men’s group from Hope Community Church stepped in with a second wave of generosity (pictured here!). To everyone who donated, planned, lifted, and loaded... we thank you for being hunger heroes!

Scout Leads Cemetery Restoration Project
For his Eagle Scout project, Ben Balsley with Troop 356 is leading a restoration of a private cemetery that dates to the 1800s. The private Robinson Family Cemetery contains at least eight graves and is located in a wooded area of the Food Cupboard property.
Ben's team identified grave sites, removed brush and trees, built a picket fence around the site, and mulched a path to it. While three graves are identified with markers, wooden crosses will be made for unmarked graves.
A big thanks to Ben and fellow scouts in completing this project.

Belén Rogers from the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina stopped by last month. As part of their Community Nutrition Team, Belén helps keep us on track as a designated Healthy Pantry—which means more fresh, nutritious food for our neighbors in need.
Thanks to this partnership, we’re able to stock our shelves each week with healthy options—many at little to no cost. The Cupboard also receives access to food recovery programs, food safety education, and equipment grants.
