Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect food donations through the NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

To donate, please place a box or bag of unexpired non-perishable food next to your mailbox on Saturday, May 9 before your letter carrier arrives. Your carrier will collect it, the food will be sorted, and donations will be distributed to help support local residents in need, including through our pantry.

Volunteer Opportunities - Please Share. It takes a village...... Garden season is here and we're looking for volunteers. No skills required! There is no commitment, and you can come as much or as little as you want. Corporate groups, community groups, school groups, and individuals of all ages are welcome. If you have service hours to fulfill, we are happy to sign off on it for you! This is a great way to work outside and meet awesome people while offering a lending hand to your community. Schedule now or attend one of our weekly workdays. We still have some openings for the AARP Defensive Driving Course held on Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday May 27 from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm in the lower level of our building. Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 to register. You must attend both classes. $20 for AARP members $25 for all others.

Mundelein Park & Recreation District offers a variety of programs exclusively for ages 50 and over. Programs are held at the Regent Center, a multi-purpose center serving the needs and interests of Mundelein and area residents. Click here for more information.

Recycling Drop-Off Available

You can recycle the following items in the shed located in our front parking lot:

• Bedding and pet items (leashes, collars, toys, pet food, etc.) for dogs
• Shoes
• Yarn
• American flags (for proper retirement)
• Eyeglasses and hearing aids
