Food For The Poor Representative Visits Midwest Mission

Food For The Poor is our largest partner. They handle the majority of our international shipments and we work with them to know the needs of those in developing countries. We receive a lot of our partner reports from Food For The Poor and their partner nonprofits.

We really value the relationship and we are so thankful for our seven years of partnership!

This past week, our Food For The Poor representative, Karen Carlson, came to the Midwest Mission campus. She spent three days here visiting with staff and volunteers, seeing and touring the warehouses, and learning more about our process. Karen also shared about her work with Food For The Poor and our relationship with them.

During Vision Night, Karen spoke about our partner relationship. Below are a few statistics she shared showing the impact we make together.

Midwest Mission has helped Food For The Poor in:

  • 14 Health Centers
  • 45 Clinics
  • 18 Elderly Centers
  • 95 Religious Institutions
  • 18 Community Centers
  • 128 Orphanages
  • 27 Hospitals
  • 80 NGOs
  • 84 Outreach Programs
  • 110 Schools

In 2022, we shipped 30 containers with Food For The Poor, totaling to be a valued at $4,725,513.75. The shipments went to Belize, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, and Jamaica.

We loved having Karen here and hearing about all of the ways Food For The Poor and Midwest Mission are serving God's kingdom together.

Vision Night

On Friday, November 18, we had our first Vision Night.

Vision Night 2022 was a night to celebrate all that God has done in and through Midwest Mission in 2022 and to take a look at what we feel God is calling us to in 2023.

We were able to hear from two different partners. First, we heard from the International Health and Development Network, our longest partner, who is located in Ghana. Then, we heard from Karen Carlson, our Food For The Poor Representative.

Giving Tuesday 2022

Giving Tuesday is in just a few days.

Our 2022 Giving Tuesday campaign is called

MISSION IN MOTION

This is a campaign to raise $29,000 for an additional box truck.

Why a box truck?

We want to increase our Rice Meal Pack capacity.

This past year, we have been overwhelmed (in the best way!) by the number of churches and organizations who want to participate in and host a Rice Meal Pack. Since January, we have done 57 Rice Meal Packs. This is amazing compared to last year’s 34 packs. But, we want to keep growing.

If we increase our Rice Meal Pack capacity, we will increase our ability to send more Rice Meals, impacting more people's lives.

We began our Rice Meal program because we understood we had the means to keep people from going hungry. Receiving a Rice Meal meets someone's nutritional needs, and gives them hope and empowerment to use their resources to create a better situation for themselves.

There will always be a need for food, because, unfortunately, there will always be people in the midst of disaster and crisis who are hungry. But you can help us make a bigger impact around the world.

We want to keep growing and reaching more people.

So, mark your calendars – on November 29th, we start our Mission in Motion campaign.

Join us in our mission to give hope and empowerment to more people in need through our Rice Meals.

Prayers to Lift Up

Praise God with us this week. We are grateful God has provided us with wonderful volunteers, donors, and partners. We are grateful for the work God is continually doing through Midwest Mission, and we praise God that resources are reaching those who need them most.

"Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live."

Psalm 146:1-2
