Public Letter from ONEgeneration:
Standing Together Amid Possible CalFresh Benefit Disruptions
Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Members,
As our community faces uncertainty due to the recent federal government shutdown and its impact on CalFresh (SNAP) benefits, ONEgeneration stands firm in our commitment to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.
Our Food Bank & Mobile Food Pantry was established in response to the food insecurity that emerged during the pandemic and has since grown into one of our core programs. Today, thanks to our dedicated partners, volunteers, and donors, we reclaim and distribute over 200,000 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food each month, providing nourishment and hope to thousands of individuals and families across the San Fernando Valley.
We want to assure you that despite possible federal disruptions, ONEgeneration’s Food Bank & Mobile Food Pantry will continue to operate and work alongside community partners to expand capacity and access to meet the growing need during this challenging time.
Our efforts include:
-
Walk-up Food Pantry Services on scheduled days at our Van Nuys, Reseda, and Northridge locations, providing access to fresh and stable groceries.
-
Door-to-Door Grocery Deliveries for homebound and isolated older adults experiencing food insecurity.
-
Mobile Food Pantry Services reaching churches, shelters, and community-based organizations across the Valley.
-
Benefits Enrollment Assistance provided by our Community Outreach and Education team, helping households navigate and access available food resources and benefits.
At ONEgeneration, we believe that access to food is a fundamental right, not a privilege. While CalFresh benefits may be disrupted, our mission remains unwavering: to fill the gap and ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors, older adults, children, and families continue to have access to the nutritious food they need.
Our ability to respond appropriately during this critical moment will depend on foundation support, fundraising, volunteering, and community donations. Join us in keeping ONEgeneration’s Food Bank & Mobile Food Pantry strong as we meet the increasing demand ahead.
