Food Recovery Week is October 16 - 22   Manna Food Center's Community Food Rescue (CFR) and the DC Food Recovery Working Group (DCFRWG) has combined forces with the Montgomery County Food Council and Prince George's County Food Equity Council to co-host this year's DMV Food Recovery Week October 16 - 22 Attendees can learn easy things to do at home - and ways to support community efforts - to reduce food waste and increase food security for all.   See full list of events

WALKtober Wheaton Walking Tour & Networking Event Wheaton & Kensington Chamber of Commerce and One Montgomery Green invite you to join our Walktober Wheaton Wednesday, October 26, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm Join us as we celebrate WALKtober, an annual health promotion event to encourage people to get out and walk more in October. Meet up at the Marian Fryer Town Plaza and walk around Wheaton’s central business district, touring some of the WK Chamber's businesses before ending up at popular spot for a Networking Happy Hour. ‘Walktober’ Events Promote Walking and Pedestrian Safety Throughout October The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is partnering with the State of Maryland and local municipalities to celebrate “Walktober” with a series of activities in October promoting the State’s official exercise: walking. The month-long campaign highlights the safety and health of pedestrians. Walktober also highlights the importance of County pedestrian infrastructure projects.

Jubilee Association of Maryland GIGS Concert Watch the free concert that connected friends and raised awareness. A portion of the evening's sales of pizza and drinks benefited Jubilee's work to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Montgomery County.  Watch the GIGS concert that was on Saturday, Sept 24 at 6:00 pm When the curtains parted at GIGS Courtyard, guests were welcomed into a scene set for an evening of mingling, dancing, games, and - most importantly - a lineup of special guest musicians. Sean Gaiser, founder of GIGS on Kensington's Antique Row, took the lead on guitar and vocals. Carolyn Skinner, Alex Rivas, Foster Bennett, Davin Golder, and other Jubilee community members joined Sean on stage throughout the evening, wowing the crowd with vocals and tambourine.

2022 Champions and Legacies Celebration Recognized 2022 Legacy Award Honoree Congressman David Trone for his advocacy on behalf of behavioral health. Proceeds from the Celebration will be supporting Cornerstone Montgomery's Vocational Program, which helps more than 700 adults and transition aged youth who are recovering from mental health disorders choose, find and keep employment.   A recording of the Champions and Legacies Celebration will be posted on Cornerstone Montgomery's YouTube Channel, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and website. The e-journal is posted on Cornerstone Montgomery's website for one-year.
