We’re hosting a year-long celebration with events, historical tours, community pop up parties, official merchandise, and more throughout 2024!



Perry was founded in 1824 and named in honor of Oliver Hazard Perry, a War of 1812 hero. Perry began as an antebellum industry, including gristmills, sawmills, and cotton gins. Perry was formally incorporated in 1824 as the first municipality in Houston County.


Perry is now known as a premier community of choice and truly “Where Georgia Comes Together.”

District 1 Community Pop-Up Party

We’re celebrating Perry’s 200th Birthday in 2024!


Our antique fire truck will travel throughout Perry neighborhoods in 2024 for picture opportunities, giveaways, and celebrations!


We’re bringing the party to certain parks and neighborhoods within District 1 on Tuesday, March 12 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Train Like A Firefighter

Join the Perry Fire Department for the Train Like A Firefighter event on March 16 at 10 AM!


Participants will take on our physical agility test, gaining hands-on experience guided by Perry Fire Department members through each of the seven skill stations, offering insights into how firefighters train.


Practice each skill firsthand, and then gear up to complete the entire course wearing a firefighter helmet, gloves, and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Complete the course in seven minutes or less, and meet the state standard for firefighters!


We invite you to participate in the Train Like A Firefighter event to gain a deeper understanding of our department, explore firefighting as a career, and enjoy a unique, challenging, and cost-free exercise activity!


NOTE: Event is limited to the first 20 citizens to arrive and sign the waiver on the day of the event. No limit for spectators. Park in designated areas to avoid obstructing fire apparatus.

The Perry Fire Department is a 2 station department that

contains a staff of firefighters providing fire protection, emergency

medical services, technical rescue operations, fire safety education,

fire cause investigation, and fire code inspections to a population of approximately

23,000 over 28.5 square miles.

Kevin Gore was recently named the Chief Building Official for the City of Perry!


The Chief Building Official administers and enforces various City of Perry and State of Georgia codes regulating the construction, use, and occupancy of buildings and structures, and directs the Building Codes Division of the Department of Community Development.

Spring Cleanup 2024

Public Work's annual Spring Cleanup event happens April 22 - April 26, 2024 for residential customers!


Items will be picked up on your regular service day.


The bulk collection starts on Monday; however, the actual collection time will vary due to your location, and the total volume and type of materials set out.


This program will include some items that are not normally hauled by your trash service.
