Western State Bank rewarding local shoppers with free 'New Grind' coffee May 10

Garden City, Kan.-It pays to shop local. Western State Bank is rewarding local shoppers with complimentary coffee drinks in the bank's parking lot, 1500 E Kansas, on Friday, May 10, when they present a receipt from a small business local to Finney County.

New Grind Coffee, a coffee trolley that typically operates on Farmland Road, will be parked in the Western State Bank parking lot starting at 7:30 a.m. Western State Bank will provide 100 cups of coffee from a limited menu to those who drive through and present a receipt from a locally-owned small business. The event will continue until all 100 cups of coffee are given out. New Grind Coffee will not be selling coffee during the event due to local merchant licensing regulations.

"We wanted to do something special for Small Business Week," Western State Bank President Tyler Whitham said. "We always try to promote shopping locally, but we decided to take it a step further and provide incentive to do so."

The bank also plans to provide literature on the importance of shopping local, in order to help educate patrons of the benefits to the community.

In order to control the flow of traffic and prevent congestion on Kansas Avenue, the bank requests that patrons enter the parking lot at the southeast Pat's Drive entrance and drive around to the northwest side.

The event's limited menu will include features such as the Bankers' Brew, the Lenders' Latte, the Money Mocha, and the Western Wake Up. Patrons will be limited to one drink per receipt per attendee. Descriptions of each of the drinks and event details and updates may be found on Western State Bank's Facebook event page.

For more information, contact Public Relations Director Sarah Waller at 620-275-4128 or swaller@wsbks.com.
