Hello Friends!

We've had a busy September here at LHR. September is Hunger Action Month, and we were in motion all month long bringing awareness to the problems of hunger and poverty in our community.

Did you know that one in four Loudoun households lives paycheck to paycheck, and that one in fourteen Loudoun residents is at risk of food insecurity? See our blog post to dive deeper into these statistics.

As we enter the busy fall season, we ask you to continue to act against hunger. One way to do this is by becoming a monthly sustainer donor to LHR. Regular donations are a budget friendly way to give, and help LHR tremendously by smoothing out our cash flow throughout the year. Click here to set up your recurring donation today.

And while we're talking about taking action against hunger, we want to highlight and celebrate the fact that this month marks the 10 year anniversary of President & CEO Jennifer Montgomery's leadership at LHR. We are truly grateful to have Jennifer at the helm of this organization as we move forward to provide food and support for those who need it in our community.

Thank you for being with us through Hunger Action Month, and for taking action alongside LHR. We deeply appreciate your partnership in this critical work supporting those in need of food in our community.

September is Hunger Action Month!

Each September, food providers across the country recognize this month as Hunger Action Month. It's an opportunity to focus attention on a problem that never, ever goes away

You are reading this newsletter, so we know you care about this issue. We'd love it if you would join us in advocating for food security for all Loudouners and for people throughout the United States and the world. No one should go hungry.

Most Needed Items

LHR is looking for help with donations of food. We always need whole grain breakfast cereal.

We accept backyard produce and eggs. If you have a surplus of zucchini, a plethora of tomatoes, or any other home grown produce you'd like to donate, bring it by!

We can also accept eggs from your backyard chickens or ducks. We keep empty egg cartons on hand.

We are always in need of healthy snack items, breakfast bars and low-sodium canned vegetables.

Cooking oil is in high demand, and is not something that is frequently donated.

However you can help, it's appreciated!
