Dear Friends,
2024 has been a year of growth for Loudoun Hunger Relief (LHR). The need for our services has increased 25% compared to 2023, and we are moving more food through our doors than ever before. In fact, LHR provided almost $5 million dollars worth of food to those in need in Loudoun in 2024, up from about $4.6 million in 2023.
Whether you volunteered your time, donated food, or contributed financially, you helped us keep our doors open and our shelves stocked. Our dedicated staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. But none of this would be possible without your support.
We were deeply honored this year to receive both the Nonprofit of the Year Award and the Small Business of the Year Award from the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of everyone who has shown up for LHR—from our donors and volunteers to our staff and partners. These honors belong to all of you as much as they do to us.
In 2025, we anticipate various changes and challenges. We are planning to open a second pantry location in Sterling to largely replace the outdoor mobile markets we have been running there for the past five years. Please stay tuned for updates on the expected opening, which will likely be in the fall of 2025.
We are also developing new ways to ensure that our neighbors have access to the resources they need not just to survive, but to thrive. One of our new initiatives is already in progress: we are reaching out to senior adults who visit for food to connect them with any services they may be eligible to receive. We will continue to expand our programming and support for our most vulnerable neighbors.
Thank you for always showing up—for your neighbors, our community, and those who need it most.
