Dear Friends,

This time of year is filled with events and activities. It is also a time when families might find themselves in need of help, whether through long-term hardships or new adverse circumstances. If you or someone you know needs help, Loudoun Hunger Relief is here with food resources and referrals to other supports. Everyone needs help sometimes, and everyone can give help sometimes. LHR is about neighbors helping neighbors, and we're glad to have your support in this work. We're equally glad to help when you need it.

We're getting a lot of questions about what we need right now. Donations of any kind, monetary or food, are helpful. The most needed food items right now are canned vegetables, canned fruit no sugar added, canned soup, and whole grain breakfast cereals. We appreciate your support more than you can know!

Now for some fun stuff...

LHR is excited to march once again in the Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 30! We’d love to see you along the parade route as we celebrate community spirit and the start of the holiday season.

We’re grateful to the Saturday Morning Brass Project and St. David’s Outreach for hosting a benefit concert for LHR on Sunday, November 16 at 2:30 PM—a wonderful opportunity to enjoy beautiful music while supporting neighbors in need.

Our thanks also go to The Jingle Jam Band, the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, and the Tally Ho Theater for their incredible support for our community. Don’t miss this year’s Jingle Jam—tickets go on sale at the box office on November 8 for shows December 12, 13, and 14!

See you around Loudoun! Or stop by and visit us at the pantry—we'd love to see you.

Scouting for Food

Check your doors! Many residents in Loudoun County should receive a notification in the form of a Scouting for Food Post-It note with directions for food items needed to replenish the stockrooms of local food pantries. Each November, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts, and their leaders of the Goose Creek District of the National Capital Area Council take to the neighborhoods of Loudoun County in support of Scouting for Food. The mission of the service project is to collect food items that will be given to families needing assistance within their local communities.

The scouts will be by on Saturday, November 8th to pick up the filled bags of non-perishable items (no glass please) and deliver them to various food pantries across the county.

Thank you to our Freeze Your Gizzard Sponsors!

Join us on Saturday, November 22nd for Leesburg's 23rd annual Thanksgiving 5k and 1 mile fun-run.
