Dear Friends,

As Loudoun County turns green, and our native redbuds bloom, the LHR team is very glad to put the winter months behind us. The extreme weather this year was especially hard on our most vulnerable neighbors. Low-income households make hard choices about heating and utility bills, transportation costs, medicine, and food purchases every day. LHR supports food needs for thousands of households, providing a critical basic resource for our neighbors.

This year continues to be very difficult for federal workers in our area, particularly DHS and TSA. LHR is providing extra supports for these families as they navigate uncharted territory. If you are a federal worker in a tight spot, please know that you can get help at LHR.

Our amazing community helps us do this work everyday. From fundraising efforts like GiveChoose, to the thousands of pounds of food we receive from food drives, to our incredible volunteer corps, we know we can count on you to help our neighbors.

Please read through this newsletter for updates from LHR, including an important message regarding our volunteers and lots of community events that support our neighbors in need of food.

Happy Spring!

We Need Tomato Sauce!

In the month of April, we are asking for tomato sauce!

Meals featuring tomato sauce, like spaghetti, are a staple in every household. Simple meals are often overlooked, but make a big difference for our neighbors in need of food.

If you’re shopping this month, consider adding a can or two to your cart or check out our Amazon Wishlist. Every donation helps keep nutritious food on our shelves.

Plant a Row For Those in Need!

As you plan your vegetable garden this season, consider planting an extra row or a few additional plants to help neighbors in need. Your backyard bounty can go a long way in supporting our community. We gratefully accept fresh produce donations, every tomato, zucchini, and pepper helps!

Check our current donation hours at loudounhunger.org before you stop by.
