Dear Friends,

Summer brings outdoor gatherings, neighborhood pot-lucks, and family cook-outs. In fact, if you think of your favorite summer activity, it most likely includes a favorite, familiar food or beverage. Food is not only a basic need, but is central to how we gather as human beings.

As you enjoy your time with family and friends, this summer, please remember our neighbors in need of help with food. Their summer will be made better by the support you give. Thank you for your help in every season of the year!

Please join us in congratulating our Community Engagement Manager, Elizabeth Milkie, on her completion of the Leadership Loudoun program!

And please join us in thanking Community Care Manager, Tannia Cogeos for her caring for those we serve, and for the expertise she brought to a recent panel on homelessness in Loudoun. The LoudounNow article is linked in the newsletter below.

Don't forget to help us thank and celebrate our Deputy Director, Trish McNeal for 10 years of service to LHR and those we serve.

Loudoun Hunger Relief will be closed on Friday, June 19, on Saturday, June 27, and on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 for the federal holidays. We hope you enjoy your summer holidays, and we ask that you please bring your food donations during our open donation hours.

Thank you for being partners in the mission of making sure no one is hungry in our Loudoun community.

The Loudoun Hunger Relief Team 🌷

Loudoun Hunger Relief was honored to participate in the recent Homelessness Faith Summit, where local nonprofits, faith leaders, and community organizations came together to discuss the growing challenges of housing instability and homelessness in Loudoun County. During the panel, our Community Care Manager, Tannia Cogeos, shared how increasing demand for food assistance often reflects broader financial hardships facing local families and seniors. Tannia's deep caring for the community we serve, and deep knowledge of community needs was an asset to this event, sponsored by Real Armored Women.

Join us in congratulating Elizabeth on her graduation from Leadership Loudoun!

Elizabeth Milkie, Community Engagement Manager at LHR graduated from Leadership Loudoun last month, a program designed to develop and engage current and emerging leaders in Loudoun County.

During the 9-month program, the Leadership Loudoun cohort participated in leadership development activities, visited with local and state elected officials, and learned about resources and opportunities available in Loudoun County. The program culminated in a community impact project which included participating in hundreds of hours of community service throughout Loudoun County and hosting a panel presentation focused on solutions to help the 1 in 4 households who fall within the ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) threshold in Loudoun County. Congrats, Elizabeth!
